The Blitzboks trailed 7-0 after an ill-disciplined first half in which JC Pretorius received a yellow card.
However, the South Africans hit back fast after the break with quickfire tries by Zain Davids and Selvyn Davids.
Playmaker Selvyn Davids completed his brace a couple of minutes later, before skipper Siviwe Soyizwapi and Christie Grobbelaar dotted down to seal the contest in style.
The Blitzboks were due to play Fiji later on Friday but the islanders were forced to withdraw from the event after a Covid-19 outbreak in their squad.
The Blitzboks were the log points at Fiji's expense and will take on England in their final Pool A match on Saturday (14:17 SA time).
